The voice behind the story

M. T. Sobantu

M. T. Sobantu's life changed forever the day a routine mammogram letter arrived. What followed was a journey through fear, anger, uncertainty, and ultimately survival. This deeply personal experience became the foundation for a book that speaks to anyone who has ever heard the words: "It's cancer."

Attending survivor "Show and Tell" sessions became a turning point. Seeing women who had lost one or both breasts yet were living full lives helped her realise that breast cancer was no longer a death sentence. That moment of connection planted the seed for this book.

Rather than a medical textbook, M. T. Sobantu chose to write the book she wished she had—free of medical jargon, offering practical tools, honest stories, and guidance for coping with fear, decision fatigue, scanxiety, and isolation. Every page is rooted in real experience.

Through writing, M. T. Sobantu found clarity and purpose: to help others face malignancy with strength, to navigate the unknown with courage, and to remind every reader—you are not alone. Not now, not ever.
